Northeast Academy offers a state licensed Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 program. Students learn through play-based and age appropriate experiences that prepare them socially, emotionally, and educationally for elementary school.
Students in grades K-5 are taught by experienced teachers who focus on developing our students’ foundational knowledge in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Our Reading Specialist works with students individually or in small groups to reinforce reading skills. Students also take Physical Education, Art, and Library courses. Extracurriculars for students in grades 4 and 5 include Robotics, Jr. Beta Club, and middle school Cheerleading (grade 5). Students begin their day with a devotional meeting in their homeroom and attend a weekly Chapel service conducted by members of our Ministers’ Council.
Students in grades 6-8 are taught by experienced teachers who build on the foundations of reading, writing, math, science, and social studies taught in our lower school. Students take Health and Physical Education courses. Students in grade 6 have Drama/Music and Library. Students in grades 7 and 8 take computer courses. Extracurriculars for students in grades 6-8 include Student Council, Jr. Beta Club, football, volleyball, tennis, cross country, cheerleading (grades 7-8), middle school cheerleading (grade 6), basketball, softball, baseball, golf, and shooting sports. Students in grades 9-12 are taught by experienced teachers who prepare them to graduate from high school and go on to college, the workforce, or the military. Students in grades 9-12 take courses required by the state of North Carolina for graduation. In addition to state required courses, all seniors take a Christian Ethics course. Elective courses in physical education, drama/music, reading, and Yearbook are also taught. Upper School students have the opportunity to serve as Teacher Assistants in elementary classrooms. Students also participate in the Career and College Program; taking college courses through Roanoke-Chowan Community College. Extracurriculars for students in grades 9-12 include Student Council, Sr. Beta Club, football, volleyball, tennis, cross country, cheerleading, basketball, softball, baseball, golf, and shooting sports. Before School Care is offered to students in Pre-K and Kindergarten students in our Pre-K classroom from 7:30 am - 8:00 am. Before School Care is offered to students in grades 1-12 in the cafeteria from 7:30 am - 8:00 am.
After School Care is offered to students in Pre-K through 6th grade from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Time is allotted for students to have a snack (provided by the parent), complete homework, play outside (weather permitting), and play indoors. Parents must complete an application for After School Care.
